BRAINROT
100 men v/s a severely biased teenager.
By Karthika.

In the midst of all the chaos that took over my instagram feed in early april’25, one thing stuck to this authors mind - why brainrot?
Now if you’re like me, you’ll think of a variety of reasons for why these are harmless and do not make a difference, but let’s go over them again.
“Bombardiro Crocodilo, an alligator that bombs kids in Gaza and Palestine and doesn’t believe in Allah and loves bombs.” - msn.com
A silly meme, that spread over the internet, and did influence peoples minds, also had a not-so-funny background. “Take a joke” they’d tell you when you try to explain why it isn’t funny, but how do you classify something like this even as a joke?
Sure, we’ve had a long history of a political-satirical cartoons. But none of them ever attacked/glorified any sort of bigotry.
Second on my list, we have our beloved, loved by most boys, the tiger and the dog meme. If you don’t know what i’m talking about, consider yourself blessed. And if you do, then let’s go into its analysis:
I will NOT mention what the meme says owing to my own sanity and yours. Rape is a serious issue in every country. The average daily of rape in our country india is 86 per day. But how, and why, do we still laugh at these jokes? “Its the shock substance” No it’s not. It comes from a background of non-empathy for the world around you.
As a teenager who is chronically online, i do occasionally stumble upon this side of the internet. Not that i find funny, but i’d definitely like to keep a count of those who find these funny. Just so i can maybe conduct a survey to know how many people find these memes funny. or maybe keep a track of the rising sense of humour. Neither I find humourous.
