The Beauty of Wrong Turns
We are taught to fear wrong turns, on the road, in life, in choices. Maps, timetables, and carefully drawn plans tell us where we should be going, and anything outside the route feels like a mistake. But sometimes, the most beautiful discoveries are hidden where we never intended to go.
A wrong turn can mean stumbling upon a quiet street filled with roses, a roadside tea stall serving the best chai you’ve ever had, or a view of the sunset you wouldn’t have seen otherwise. These accidents remind us that life is not only about efficiency, but about wonder.
In a larger sense, the “wrong” turns we take, choosing a different subject, failing an exam, losing a job, or even missing a train, often push us toward experiences that shape us more deeply than success ever could. They break the illusion of control and teach us flexibility, patience, and openness.
Perhaps there are no wrong turns at all, only unexpected detours. And within them lies the chance to slow down, to notice, to breathe. The beauty of wrong turns is simple: they remind us that life is not a straight line, but a winding path worth wandering.
